Hi! Can I see it running before I pay, and does it come with the shelves?

What you can list

It is still working. Someone still needs it.

List appliances that switch on and do their job, with any fault stated up front.

Refrigeration

Fridges, freezers and chest coolers.

Cooking

Cookers, ovens, microwaves and air fryers.

Laundry

Washing machines, dryers and steam irons.

Small kitchen

Blenders, kettles, toasters and mixers.

Category-specific guidance

Buyers pay for proof that it works.

An appliance is the one category where a photo of it switched off tells the buyer nothing. Show it running and the questions stop.

A strong appliance listing includes

Buyer-ready
  1. 1
A photo of it plugged in and on

A lit display or running drum is the single most persuasive image.

  2. 2
    Brand, model and capacity

Litres, kilos or wattage — buyers are matching it to their space.

  3. 3
    Age, faults and repairs

State how long you used it and anything that has been fixed or replaced.

  4. 4
    Dimensions and collection

Bulky items need measurements and a clear answer on who collects.

Simple from the start

How to sell used appliances online in Kenya

Step 01

Prove its condition

Clean the appliance and photograph the exterior, interior, controls, plug, model label and included accessories. Show dents, rust, cracks or worn areas clearly. Where practical, include a photograph of the appliance switched on so buyers have visual evidence that it is complete and currently working.

Step 02

Add size and working details

State the brand, model, capacity, approximate age, dimensions and working condition. Describe cooling, heating, washing or drainage performance where relevant and disclose every known fault. Add your location, asking price, floor access and whether the buyer must arrange collection, lifting and transport.

Step 03

Demonstrate and arrange collection

Answer questions and let the buyer inspect the appliance operating before payment. Agree on the final price, collection time and responsibility for transport. Disconnect the appliance safely only after the buyer is satisfied, and confirm cleared payment before it leaves your possession.

The five-minute test

Offer a demonstration and you close faster.

Buyers of second-hand appliances are pricing in the risk of a repair bill. Letting them watch it run for five minutes removes that risk and takes the negotiation with it.

  • ✓Have it plugged in and ready before they arrive.
  • ✓Run the cycle or setting they ask about.
  • ✓Show the seals, shelves and accessories included.

Can buyers see my phone number?

No. Buyers contact you through Juuhudi messages, so you can answer questions and decide when or whether to share contact details.

How can I make my appliance sell more confidently?

Photograph it switched on, disclose every known problem, and be ready to demonstrate it during inspection. Confidence is what buyers are paying for here.

Can I sell an appliance with a known fault?

Yes, as long as the fault is stated clearly in the description and reflected in the price. Hiding it wastes a trip for both of you and earns a bad review.
