Hi! Is the mattress included, and how old is the cot?

What you can list

Another family needs the stage you have just finished.

List items that are clean, complete and safe to reuse, with their age and history described.

Nursery

Cots, mattresses, changing tables and monitors.

On the move

Prams, strollers, carriers and high chairs.

Clothing

Outgrown clothes, shoes and school uniforms.

Toys & books

Age-appropriate toys, games and children’s books.

Category-specific guidance

Parents buy on safety before price.

A parent reading your listing is checking whether it is safe to reuse. Answer that first and the price question gets easier.

A strong baby gear listing includes

Buyer-ready
  1. 1
    Brand, model and age

Parents check recalls and safety guidance by model, so name it exactly.

  2. 2
    Every part accounted for

Straps, fasteners, manuals and accessories — say what is missing.

  3. 3
    Photos of the safety parts

Show harnesses, locks, wheels and joins, not just the overall item.

  4. 4
How it was stored and cleaned

Say how long it was used and how you have prepared it.

Simple from the start

How to sell used baby and kids’ items safely

Step 01

Clean and inspect every part

Clean the item thoroughly and photograph it assembled from several angles. Show the brand label, harnesses, locks, wheels, fasteners and moving parts, plus any stains, cracks, wear or missing components. Check that every essential part works before offering the item to another family.

Step 02

Include age and safety details

State the brand, model, dimensions, age or weight guidance, condition and everything included. Disclose missing instructions, replacement parts, repairs and faults. Check that the item is eligible for resale, and never list recalled, expired or damaged safety equipment that should be retired.

Step 03

Demonstrate before handover

Answer parents’ questions carefully and demonstrate the locks, brakes, harnesses or folding mechanism during inspection. Agree on the price and collection arrangements only after the buyer understands the condition. Clean the item again, include all promised parts and confirm payment before handover.

Worth knowing before you list

Some items should not be sold second-hand.

Anything recalled, expired, damaged or involved in an impact should not be passed on, and neither should safety equipment with an unknown history. Check current manufacturer guidance for car seats and similar items before listing them.

  • ✓Check the model against current recall notices.
  • ✓Do not list impact-involved or expired safety items.
  • ✓Never make a safety claim you cannot verify.
