Verification helps Juuhudi reduce spam accounts, keep members reachable and create a more accountable marketplace. Before you can list an item or message another member, we ask you to confirm that you control the email address and phone number on your account.
Verification is one of the basic standards every Juuhudi member must meet. It does not guarantee that someone is trustworthy, but it makes anonymous and disposable accounts harder to create.
Why we verify your email address
Email verification confirms that you can receive messages at the email address on your account.
Juuhudi uses this address for important information about your account and your listings, such as listing review updates, security notices and replies from Juuhudi support.
A confirmed email address also gives us a reliable way to reach you if there is a problem with your account. Without it, a mistyped or inaccessible address could stop you receiving information you need.
To confirm your email address, tap the link in the email we send you. If you continue with Google, your email address is confirmed automatically.
Your email address is never shown on your profile or listings.
Why we verify your phone number
Phone verification confirms that you have the phone number on your account. We send a code by SMS, and you enter it on Juuhudi. Once your phone number is verified, you can also use it to sign in.
It also lets us enforce Juuhudi's one-number rule: one phone number can be connected to only one Juuhudi account. This makes it harder for someone to create several disposable accounts for spam, misleading listings or repeated unwanted messages.
The rule is not meant to inconvenience genuine members. It is a small but useful barrier against people who want to misuse the marketplace without being accountable for it.
Your phone number stays private. Buyers and sellers talk through Juuhudi messages, and your phone number is never published on your listings or profile.
Why Juuhudi requires both
Email and phone verification do different jobs.
Your confirmed email address gives Juuhudi a reliable way to reach you. Your verified phone number makes it harder for one person to create many accounts. Together, they set a basic level of accountability before someone can list, buy or message other members.
A trusted marketplace is not built by a badge or a slogan. It develops when every member follows the same standards, gives accurate information and treats other people with respect.
Verification is one part of that. Listing reviews by our team, private messaging, honest condition descriptions and member reviews give you more to go on.
What the Verified badge means
A Verified badge on a member's profile means they have confirmed both their email address and their phone number. It does not mean Juuhudi has checked their ID.
What verification does not prove
Verification confirms that someone controls an email address and a phone number. It does not confirm their legal identity, run a background check or guarantee that they will behave honestly.
It also does not prove that an item is genuine, safe or owned by the person listing it.
Inspect items carefully, ask questions and meet in a safe public place before completing an exchange. Never send money just because an account is verified.
Verification is not the only safeguard. Juuhudi can restrict or close any account that misuses the marketplace, whether or not it is verified. If something seems wrong, report the listing or member.
If you cannot confirm your email address
Check that the address is spelled correctly, then look in your spam, junk and promotions folders. Allow a few minutes for the email to arrive before asking for another one.
If it still does not arrive, request a new link, or continue with Google if your email address is a Gmail address. If neither works, contact Juuhudi support.
If you do not receive the phone code
Check that you entered a Kenyan phone number correctly, such as 0712 345 678, and that your phone has signal. Wait a few minutes before asking for another code. Juuhudi limits how often a code can be sent, and how many codes one phone number can receive in a day.
If you see “This number is already linked to another Juuhudi account”, you already have an account with that phone number. Sign in with your phone number instead and we will send the code to that phone. Do not create another account to get around the one-number rule.
Contact Juuhudi support if you no longer have the phone number, or if you think it was connected to an account without your permission.
Building a marketplace worth taking part in
Verification will not remove every risk, but it sets a clearer standard for joining Juuhudi. When members are reachable and cannot easily create disposable accounts, conversations are more accountable and the community is harder to abuse.
That helps everyone who comes to Juuhudi to buy, sell and give useful things a second life.
